A Glance of MRDF

Mountain Research & Development Foundation (P) Ltd. (MRDF Nepal) is a professional research and development organization established in 2015 and registered in Kathmandu. MRDF Nepal specializes in Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction, Community Forestry, NTFP/Medicinal Plants, Green Enterprise, Environmental Management, Biodiversity Conservation, Livelihoods, and Sustainable Development, with a strong focus on Nepal’s mountain, border, and ecologically sensitive regions.

MRDF special focuses on working in those fields of their study, baseline survey, midline survey and endline survey, assessment, impact assessment, capacity assessment, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity building activities. MRDF Nepal works with government entities, local governments, NGOs, INGOs, the private sector, Civil Society organizations and Academic Institutions to promote evidence-based policy and planning, focuses on climate resilience and inclusive adaptation across Nepal’s mountain and border regions.

A core strength of MRDF is its commitment to bridging science, policy, and practice. Through applied research, participatory methodologies, and knowledge dissemination, MRDF has contributed to strengthening linkages between policy makers, academia, practitioners, and local communities. The organization has also invested significantly in knowledge management platforms, research dialogues, and capacity development of emerging researchers.

The outcomes achieved by MRDF clearly demonstrate its potential as a leading independent environment and development research and policy think-tank in Nepal, with a growing portfolio of nationally and internationally funded assignments and a strong reputation for technical rigor, inclusiveness, and timely delivery.
