Mountain Research & Development (P) Ltd. (MRDF) is established in 2015 and registered in the office of company registrar, Kathmandu. It aims to address the contemporary research and development issues and challenges related to environment, climate change, disaster management, watershed management, biodiversity conservation, child protection, and sustainable development issues including the gaps between policy and practice, development planning, implementation, and monitoring, linking, and influencing public policy through rigorous social and scientific research.
MRDF comprises of an interdisciplinary team of professional experts with higher academic standings, and wealth of national and international experience. MRDF has been focusing on establishing information and knowledge management forum creating opportunities for research, dialogue and collaboration, which strengthened the linkage between the policy makers, academia, and experts.
The outcomes achieved by MRDF have clearly demonstrated the potential to develop and evolve as the leading independent environment and development research and sustainable development think-tank in Nepal, and developing research projects on capacity building of young researchers, and disseminating research results that provides a solid foundation for strengthening further.

- To study climate change issues and its impact at local level to mitigate and adapt negative impact of climate change in Nepal and regional/global network.
- To explore and analyze disaster and resilience issues to support Nepal’s effort in disaster management and disaster resiliency.
- To study on green economy issues, strategies, environmental impact assessment and capacity development issues I contributing sustainable development in Nepal.
